Cooking Light Magazine
October 2018 

    This magazine was created in 1987 and features monthly food and life style, including one hundred original recipes, trends, fitness tips, and other health related news. 

    The front cover expresses a close up shot containing a table cloth that is navy blue colored and light colored bowls with featured dishes. This really appoints the readers and makes the meal the focal point of the cover page. The title of the magazine is in a bright red font color to be able to catch the attention of the magazine's audience. 
   At the very beginning of the magazine (page 3) the table of contents is displaying a close up image to allow the readers to understand what the magazine has to offer.  Towards the beginning of the magazine (pages 26 through 28) it features different twenty-minute meals, titled "Dinner Tonight 20- Minute Mains". These articles are also categorized as a close up shot, encouraging the readers to attempt something new. 
   There are all different advertisements included throughout the magazine, every other page. The different advertisements featured are mostly food related, for example on page 31 there is a "Special K" advertisement displaying their new flavors. 
 The total distribution of this magazine is 1,814,471. The Cooking Light Magazine was nominated the 2017 Good Food Awards, noticing their eventful food trends. 

Overall the magazine really intrests me and researching this magazine gave me a new perspective on the use of conventions and the organized features within the magazine. This magazine excites me to use technical and creative skills to make my magazine have a lot of different features.

Project Selection - Film

    Different films have interested me throughout my project selection process. When I recently viewed the film, 'Ferris Bullers Day Off'' my attention was immedietly struck by the music, humor, and unique narration. These different aspect of the film made it one of the best selling movies of all time.

    After viewing the film our class started watching the documentary of the production of the movie. I was extremly entertianed by the behind the scenes actions. I learned that a lot of preperation and determination go into designing and generating a film. The team had many difficulties throughout the process, yet they were able to overcome them and carry out a sucessful movie. This has inspired me to take a step foward into the film design project. I am very determined and creative, allowing my designs to come to life on set, yet I would have a difficult time working with others, becuase I like to reamin indepent to insure that I will meet the standards that I have set for myself.

Project Selection - My Decision

       I have chosen the Magazine Project because I firmly beleive that I have the correct skills and motivation to accomplish this project. Some skills that I obtain that are going to strongly assist me are, being organized, punctual, and having great interpersonal skills. These skills allow my creativity to shine throughout my project. The theme of my project will be catergoried under health, including different meal recipies, workout rounties, and skin improvements. This theme leaves me open to having many different sub themes that will strengthen my overall magazine. For example, when I am discussing food I will incourperate a meal plan, location of where I revieved the food, interview with the chef, as well as my overall scaled review of the meal. My magazine will be expanded with very diverse forms of information on topics, as well as images around my community. I am a very multi-dementional and I enjoy working with others, yet for this project I am going to work independently. I chose to work independently becuase it allows me to focus on my set plan and not have to rely on others to meet my standards. Overall, I am very excited to begin my layout and start my page spread.

Project Selection-Magazine

   There are many different aspects of print journalism that really interested me during this project selection process. Throughout the different films and blog samples viewed, it really interested me to put forth my fullest effort in accomplishing the magazine project. The television series, "Newsroom", helped shape my view on print media. It guided my understanding of the process that editors undergo to produce an issue. The adrenaline that the cast had is something that I would love to experience. 

   I have many ideal skills that will allow my creativity to thrive within my magazine; such as having an excellent writing ability, organized, punctual, great interpersonal skills, and extremely detail orientated. These skills will place me high above my peers and will allow me to achieve an exceptional grade on the Cambridge AICE Exam. 

   However, this project is a challenge for me, because I am not an expert in the magazine graphic design field. I will produce my best attempt to meet industry standards. Creating my own style will also set me apart from my peers, by my use of conventions and camera shots.
